Deep web, social links:
I have done research on the different social links regarding the deep/dark web. Including news paper articles, representing the link/ importance some events have upon modern day society. As well as documentaries which have been released on popular websites such as Netflix. For example 'Deep Web', which was released in 2015 (89 minutes long). It is said to surround 'The Untold Story of BitCoin and Silk Road', and described as 'A riveting look into the murky reaches of cyberspace sheds light on the arrest and trial of the alleged creator of Silk Road, an online black market.'
The trailer to the 'Deep Web' documentary on Netflix:
Drug crime and cyber crime is a massive issue within todays society, 9.4% of Americans over the age of twelve being unlawful drug users, in toll drug use/drug rehabilitation costing the US $181 billion a year.
The silk road is an illegal black market site, used as a platform for the selling and consumption of drugs.

Based on data from 3 February 2012 to 24 July 2012, an estimated $15 million in transactions were made annually on Silk Road, as well as billions being made in total.

These facts show the relevance, how the deep web allows for drug crime to be easily accessible with the bonus of anonymity. Other things such as hit men, paedophilic images/videos/sites, guns/weapons are also easy to access on the deep web, which is a danger for society, therefore having relevance.
YouTube also has a large deep web audience, presenting the social relevance. Some videos having millions of views. However this also represents the dangers, how the naivety of the children watching these videos could end up putting them in danger, if they are not educated on the risks of using it, they could end up getting in trouble/getting harmed. Here are some of the most popular deep web videos displayed on YouTube.
Conclusion:
- In conclusion it is clear that the deep web and cyber crime in general is socially relevant to modern day society.
- Cyber crime is increasing and the deep web makes accessibility to this easier, since it allows for a greater sense of anonymity. The fact that 9.4% of Americans over the age of twelve are also unlawful drug users further emphasis the relevance, since sited found on the deep web allow for people to easily get to them.
- Numerous documentaries have also been made, representing how it is a relevant issue, it is just not talked of often enough.
