Editing, Website, Louise

For our website we ensured that we evenly had separate roles within contributing towards the website. However I think that as a group there is some things that we are aware of that need changing and things that need adding in.

Here is our current website in which we all contributed towards. For example I created the social media links, harriet added in the tag line with the star rating underneath and Xena did the red room title and edited in the photo onto the website.

However I think that there are some things that would make it more effective and with slight changes would make the overall layout better. To improve our website I am going to add in some critical reviews down the side and take that as my responsibility as they are currently missing and try and add those in.

Website - Social Media

Website; Social Media

For our website we decided to add the Facebook logo, Twitter logo and Instagram logo as links to our social media. However in order for these to fit in with the theme of our website we had to edit these images so that they worked well with the other things that we had on our website. I decided to take control of editing these logos within photoshop so that they worked well with the title and other things that were on the website.
For example our title was red and it had a glow up effect around the edges in order to create the sense of horror through the colour red being used and it flashes on and off by glowing up.
I decided to do the same for the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram logo.

Firstly I downloaded the Facebook logo and put the image into photoshop to allow me to edit this within photoshop and make it suitable to then upload onto our website.

After putting the image into photoshop I then removed all the colour from the image to get rid of the blue in order to be able to make it red and fit the theme of other text that is used within our website.
I then made sure that the outline of the Facebook symbol had a relatively thick edge in order for the outline of the F to stand out when it will eventually look like it is glowing up.

After ensuring that I had changed the image outer layer to be thicker I then changed the outline colour to be red to help with the theme of red text that we have on our website and in order to convey the theme and genre that we have within our trailer.

At this stage I then blurred the image in order for it to look like it was glowing up eventually. I blurred it just enough so that the image of the F can still be seen and is easy to view by the people who look at our website.
Then after blurring the F I then needed to add red blur the whole way around the F in order to start building a sense of glow around the F shape. I selected size 60 on my paint brush so that the blur would b all around the Fand inside of it.
Here is what it looked like after I added the red around the F in order to make it look like it was glowing.
I then created this layer so that on the website the F can switch between being on and off so when it is off it looks like this image below and when the F is on which it flickers between it glows up.
The F will go from being off and on every few seconds which I later went on to do on photoshop.
These two images below show I how I mad sure that the image would go from not glowing up to glowing up. I selected how often I wanted the two layers which is the F where it is turned off and the second layer where the F glows up.

Once I had completed the editing for the logo within photoshop I then went onto the website and added it on where it looked suitable. As you can see the title and the logos match which look effective upon our poster.

I then went on to do the same for twitter and Instagram.

Website Background Image

Making the Website Background

As a group, we had established that we wanted the background of our website to be an image of a laptop screen lighting up with various shots from our trailer. I started by using the distort transform tool to make the clip fit correctly on the laptop. I then wanted to create a vignette effect to make the edges of the screen blend in better. I did this by using a layer mask with a gaussian blur.

I then edited the frames. I wanted the image to repeat back and forth so I made frames 1-10 followed from 9-2 so it would loop seamlessly. Then, I edited the colours in the images to make them more like scenes seen in horror films.

As the colour coming from the screen was different for each clip, I wanted to change the colour my outline was being lit up. I did this by colouring over the areas where the light hit and changing this into the blend mode soft light.

Finally, I added a gaussian blur effect to a couple of the frames to give the illusion of the image glitching out. I then needed to arrange the images on the website, so I rendered the image as an mp4 video rather than a GIF as this would make a smaller file. I then set this as the background of the website on Wix. I arranged the typography at the top of the site and made sure they didn't overlap.

Overall, I am very pleased with the result as it is appropriate for our genre, and I managed to make the image on the screen reasonably realistic. I also really like the effect of the light on my face changing as this adds realism.

Our website: Practical

Website practical:

Inserting on our website:
For our website I decided to take the job of inserting the teaser trailer in, editing and adding the red neon glowing star rating and the critic review.

Firstly I selected the '+' button and selected video and added our previously uploaded video from YouTube on to the blog.

I then adjusted the size and played around with the placing in order for it to look effective on the page. I ensured it was far to the right hand side to make sure that the image behind could be seen clearly.

After I had placed and sized the image I selected the video and clicked the 'settings' button and then 'Autoplay on loading'.
This is so as the website is loaded the video automatically plays.

I then went on to create the glowing five stars on Photoshop as well as the critics review.

Firstly I went on Google images

to find a base. That of 5 stars to then edit later on to the desired way. I inserted the stars into Photoshop and started with removing their white background and then the inner yellow sections leaving just a plain red outline.
Once I had done this and added the neon glowing effect, I selected the '+' button and added the imaged to the website.
