Poster - Louise Hyam

Film Poster:

Here is our finished film poster:

For this film poster I contributed through taking the photo. I took the photo of the pig mask with blood dripping off of it. This required me to consider a lot of things for example one of the first things I had to consider was ensuring that it was the correct lighting. The correct lighting had to be considered in order to make the poster effective as it helps to convey the genre. The lighting had to match the other side of the face that another member of my group took the photo of. This had to be done to ensure that the photo matched on both sides and was also clear. This is because the photo is an important part of the poster as it is the first thing that is seen and therefore it needs to be suitable for the genre and this requires the lighting to be appropriate when the photo is taken in order for it to work on the poster when it is put onto the poster. therefore when i took the photo i ensured that the lighting was rather dark as the other photo that was taken the other side was done in a dark environment however i ensured that the features of the pig mask were still able to be seen as this is an essential part of the film trailer and therefore the viewers of this poster should be able to see this clearly and note it is important. The dark lighting that is used surrounding the pig mask photo of the killer that i took is effective because it helps to convey a horror genre as dark colours and lighting are commonly used in order to help convey the genre of a horror film which has the conventions of mystery and darkness therefore this is why I chose this particular lighting. The lighting over the pig mask however is lighter in order for the pig mask (the killer) to be able to be seen in order to convey its importance and significance to the viewers.

Also on our poster I made the tagline which is at the top and says 'Welcome To The Monkey House'

Lastly on our poster I also made the critics and date. For the date however I made the font and another member of the group added on the blood effect.

Poster: Practical

Red room poster:

This is our finished poster:
My input:
For our poster I took the image of the young girl (the victim). We deemed this to be an important part of the poster as it would be one of the main focuses so we had to ensure it was done in the correct lighting, environment and position/facial expression. We also had to ensure it was took in a similar way to the one that had been taken of me in the killers costume by a group member. I ensured it was lined up and played around with the lighting until I deemed it appropriate. Below is the image I have taken before manipulated and edited for our poster.
As well as taking one of the main images on our poster I also created and arranged the bottom of the page, writing the billings block, making/editing the social media links/typography and inserting the age rating in.
For the billings block I did prior research to ensure that I did it correctly and in the most professional manor. I found a template online instructing me on the right presentation and wrote out the different names and credits e.g. producer, music by, directed by and so on. At first the billings block was to bold and stood out too much, so I lowered the opacity down to around 50% to ensure it fit well and did not draw too much attention
After I had completed this I began with the social media logos, I found both the Facebook and Twitter logo off Google images. I began with inserting the image into adobe Photoshop, then removing both of the backgrounds since they where surrounded by a white cuboid. I did this by selecting the logo and then removing the background layer.

Once I had removed the background I then used the stroke layer style to boarder the edges in black to make it easier to remove the inner blue of the logo, and then rasterized that layer. Therefore just being left with the outer layer. After this was done. I used the paint brush to add a circular mark on the bird this was to give the illusion of a glowing background for when I added the glowing rim to the bird, therefore acting as a reflection. To make this occur I used the soft light blend mode on the layer and then dimmed the opacity.

After this I inserted it to the main poster, and clicked the layer of the main typography which had previously been given the glowing effect layer, after this I right clicked and selected 'copy layer style' and pasted it onto the twitter logo. I then repeated the exact same steps to the Facebook logo.

After this was completed I then went on to the typography for the links to the social media sites. Before doing the actual typography I did a quick practise, which shows the step by step method a lot easier.

Firstly I typed out my name in white text and created a black background, I then proceeded to copy the layer two extra times. After this I right clicked on the first copy of the layer, and then selected blending options I removed all channels but the green for the green text and all channels but red to create the red text layer.
I then added the white layer on top and rasterized it. After this was completed I went on to select filter, blur and then blur motion to get the desired effect. I moved the distance to around two pixels and then zoomed in and moved the red layer to the right and the green to the left. After this I then made all of the layers visible to see the final product.

Lastly as a group we have decided that our film should have the age rating of 15, since we believed our target audience to be that of 15 to 25 year olds of any gender. I found the age rating symbol on Google images and then put it into adobe Photoshop, removed the background and then positioned it to my desired spot.
