Red Rooms:
Red rooms are hidden websites that can be found on the dark web. This allows you to see or participate in live and interactive murder footage. People pay to offer suggestions of how the participant is tortured/killed, or just pay to watch the event go down.
We deemed this a very interesting topic and as a group believed it is not talked about enough. Also in our focus group, the participants shed light on this and believed although a rather horrific topic, a very interesting and not talked enough about one. I decided to do further research to find any media links to this area to gain inspiration for our piece and see if it is a suitable or relevant topic.

Through my research I gathered a range of information. In 1983 a film was released called 'videodrome'.
Including a scene where a news channel shows live footage of the military torturing people, taking place in a room/area with red walls, essential a red room although perhaps not a link to the dark web, this piece represents how red rooms are heard of yet not represented enough. This can act as inspiration for our piece and shows a very unique portrayal of this idea.
In 1998 a British television series called 'Killer Net' was released, which featured scenes of logging onto the internet and witnessing or playing a part in online murder.
Other films such as 'Feardotcom' (2002) and Untraceable (2008) also featured footage such as this. The infamous Saw series could also be a link, although not internet based, the incidents are recorded and shown on a tv screen/on cameras. Therefore acting as a possible link and a form of inspiration for our trailer.
In 2010 a film called 'Chatroom' was released, targeting the area of bullying and internet suicide.

Conclusion:
- Overall there seems to not be an overload of films/media involving the deep/dark web.
- Showing the importance of creating a trailer that spreads awareness of it, however the fact that there are some links within media pieces shows the relevance.
