The Deep Web
What is it?
The deep web is the part of the World Wide Web that is not indexed by traditional search engines.
How much of the internet is deep web?
The rabbit hole that is the Internet goes much deeper than most people know. In fact, the World Wide Web as we know it represents just 4% of networked web pages — the remaining 96% of pages make up what many refer to as the “Invisible Web” or “Deep Web.”
Red Room deep web:
A Red Room is a composite urban legend. It is allegedly a hidden website or service on the "Deep Web" where you can see and/or participate in interactive torture or murder. It is essentially the snuff film legend retold for the YouTube era.
Here is a timeline on the Deep Web from 2000 - 2015:

This timeline here is showing the change in the deep web from 2000 - 2015 and how it came about. The silk road market was an online black market and the first modern dark net market, known as a platform for selling illegal drugs. As part of the dark web, it was operated as a Tor hidden service, such that online users were able to browse it anonymously and securely without potential traffic monitoring. The website was launched in February 2011; development had begun six months prior, Initially there were a limited number of new seller accounts available; new sellers had to purchase an account in an auction. Later, a fixed fee was charged for each new seller account. In October 2013, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shut down the website and arrested Ross William Ulbricht under charges of being the site's pseudonymous founder "Dread Pirate Roberts". On 6 November 2013, Silk Road 2.0 came online, run by former administrators of Silk Road. It too was shut down and the alleged operator was arrested on 6 November 2014 as part of the so-called "Operation Onymous”.
