We created a survey to gain knowledge on what kind of features to include within our trailer, allowing us to come up with finalised ideas and make important decisions.

We asked a range of questions including ones about the dangers of the deep/dark web and the dark/deep web in general. As well as to do with sound and our actual theme within the dark web.

We asked whether or not people believed more people should be aware of the deep/dark web. around 79% believes that more people should be aware, 4% believed they should not, 6% believed people already are and 10% had no idea. Therefore showing how the deep/dark web is relevant and should be talked of more.

Through our results we can also see that the majority would be interested in our topic surrounding criminality via the internet.

Our survey also clearly shows the relevance of our topic within modern day society, how 74 out of 78 people believed that cyber crime was relevant to the current day. Allowing us as a group to know that our theme is suitable.

This question also allowed us to see which genre would be the most effective regarding our piece. The majority voting for psychological. Allowing us to have a realistic approach, with possible slasher elements.

Within question four, someone clicked the other box and said that they think a psychological with some slasher factors would be interesting.

A house had the highest amount of selections due to it adding to the realism. Having it in a house adds to a more naturalistic feel and makes it more relatable to the audience.

Some believed that a more professional working environment would be better. However we have decided that our target audience is ages 16-24, due to our victim being young. As well as our theme surrounding the internet, more likely used by the younger generation, as well as the dark web more likely to interest them.

We asked this question to see whether the aspect of anonymity would add to the tension of the trailer. Making it eerier since the killer is not known, they are hiding behind the mask.  From our results we can see the over 80% believed it to be effective within this genre.

Soundtrack can add to the tension and help with ump scares adding to the horror aspect. From our results we can see that a ensue sound track seems to be fitting however a decent percentage did not want one for a greater sense of realism. Perhaps the two could be combined to add to the tension and also the realism, e.g. including naturalistic noises alongside the non diegetic soundtrack.

The audience found that a mix of both viewpoints would be ore interesting, something we will take into account while filming.

This helped us to narrow down the areas that are the most interesting, helping us to find our find topic. From these rusts we see that red rooms, hacking, hit men and conspiracy theories are deemed to be the most interesting.
