Feedback from our Storyboard Presentation
After presenting our storyboard to the rest of our class, we received useful feedback on how we could improve our ideas.
The group liked our storyboard, we used Harriet's as we felt it contained the greatest amount of detail. We could only think of one name, simply 'Red Room', for which we received positive feedback as the simplicity of it allowed people to immediately see our genre and concept, and most horror films use simple names that are directly related to their theme.
They also liked the idea of using more naturalistic sound rather than purely non-diegetic soundtrack, similar to the audio in The Blair Witch Project. We showed the sound I made on Audacity, and agreed that using this kind of effect or a low hum in the background combined with louder, diegetic noises such as typing would create more suspense.
We all agreed that our trailer should contain more titles than originally planned in order to further explain the concept to the audience. As there may be many viewers who haven't heard of the deep web, the titles should explain it while also making it seem interesting in order to get people interested in the film.
The use of voiceovers was also discussed in conjunction with titles. If not effective enough on their own, a voiceover (if done effectively) could increase the suspense. However, in order for this to work it will have to sound professional meaning we'll have to look for voice actors with access to a good enough microphone.
The presentation and feedback were very useful and allowed us to receive new input from outside the group and honest opinions on our current ideas.
