A psychological film relies on the viewers fears and emotional instability to build tension and make the viewer unsettled to further the plot. The horror of these films comes from the way in which the films are made to be realistic as this has more impact upon the viewer.

What are the pros of making a psychological horror?
The location doesn't have to be in any specific place and it can be at any time of day.
Another one is that psychological films are seen to be more realistic than most other horror films as some other horror films can't be made as realistic because it doesn't rely on the viewers it could rely on special effects and gore.
As there is no need for any special effects and gore it makes psychological films easier to film.
A psychological horror film doesn't require that many actors just usually a victim and most obviously a villain, however these are the only two necessary main characters.

What are the cons of making a psychological horror?
It can sometimes be seen as difficult to make it effective upon the viewer as a lot of it is relying o them and their fears and emanational instability so to make it effective it is down to the viewer itself and when producing it there is nothing a film producer can do to make it more effective for the viewers.
In psychological horror films it may be difficult to convey what is happening just through a trailer.
Information and knowledge is needed about peoples different states of mind, different things in peoples mind and a good understanding within psychology to make it a good psychological horror film.

What is a Slasher Horror film?
A slasher horror film usually involves a serial killer and murder victims usually with weapons involving some sort of horror game.

• Texas Chainsaw Masacre

What are the pros of making a slasher horror?

With a slasher horror film the producers can try and make it more effective by the things included such as gore and special effects and it doesn't purely rely on the viewers of the film.
There is lots of different inspiration ideas so it is quick and easy to make.
